Kate Welles writes for a women's magazine, and when her editor rejects an explicit piece she has submitted, Kate is given until the end of the day to produce an article about loving relationships instead. The assignment pushes her to look back over her own romantic history, a run of encounters that rarely grew into anything lasting, and to question whether she is in any position to advise readers on the subject. Her reflections centre on Adam Levy, an artist she met and eventually moved in with. Over time the traits that first drew them together became sources of irritation, daily life settled into routine, and Adam decided he wanted to see other women.

Released in 2000, the film is an American and Canadian co-production running 82 minutes, written and directed by Valerie Breiman. It is the third of the four features she has directed, arriving between Bikini Squad and Overnight. Famke Janssen plays Kate and Jon Favreau plays Adam, with Noah Emmerich, Ann Magnuson, Cheri Oteri and Josh Hopkins in supporting roles. Martin J. Barab, Timothy Scott Bogart and Darris Hatch produced.

On IMDb the film holds 6.1 out of 10 from around 6,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.2 out of 10 from a much smaller number of ratings. A critics' rating of 5.8 out of 10 from 48 reviews places professional assessment slightly below the broad audience response, with viewers and critics fairly close together overall.
