Imaginary Heroes

The story follows the Travis family, an American household living in a provincial town. The community is shocked when Matt Travis, a popular and successful competitive swimmer, commits suicide. Over the following year, his parents, Sandy and Ben, and his siblings, Tim and Penny, struggle to process the loss. The tragedy exposes deep tensions and hidden secrets within the family, forcing each member to face their own weaknesses and find a way to accept one another as they attempt to return to a normal life.

This comedy-drama was written and directed by Dan Harris, marking the first of two films he directed, followed by Speech & Debate in 2017. The ensemble cast features Sigourney Weaver, Emile Hirsch, Jeff Daniels, Michelle Williams, Kip Pardue, and Deirdre O'Connell.
