Late Phases is a horror film about Ambrose McKinley, a blind Vietnam veteran who is moved by his son into Crescent Bay, a seemingly peaceful retirement community. The calm is broken by a series of deadly attacks that appear to come from animals in the nearby forest. After surviving an attack himself, Ambrose comes to believe the residents are facing something far worse than wildlife, and that the community is hiding more than it admits. Determined to fight back despite his blindness, he prepares to confront the threat.
The film was directed by Adrián García Bogliano, the fourth of the six features listed for him, following I'll Never Die Alone, his segment in The ABCs of Death, and arriving before Come Play With Me, The Exorcist and Talking to a Stranger. Eric Stolze wrote the screenplay, and Larry Fessenden, Brent Kunkle and Greg Newman produced. Nick Damici leads as Ambrose, with Ethan Embry as his son Will, alongside Lance Guest, Erin Cummings, Rutanya Alda and Tom Noonan among a credited cast of 31. The film runs 95 minutes.
Released in November 2014, Late Phases drew modest audience scores on IMDb and TMDB, where it sits at 6 out of 10 from roughly 9,300 and 274 votes respectively, indicating a small but reasonably positive response. A critics' rating of 5.2 out of 10 from 20 reviews places it slightly below the audience scores.
