Children of the Corn

A married couple, Burt and Vicky, are struggling in their relationship and set out on a road trip they hope will bring them closer together. Their journey takes them into rural Nebraska, where they come across a small town that seems deserted at first. In fact, the community is controlled by a group of children who have killed off the adults under the influence of a presence they call "He Who Walks Behind the Rows," which they believe dwells in the surrounding cornfields. The couple's attempts to survive put them in direct conflict with the children and their leader.

The film is a television adaptation of Stephen King's short story, previously brought to the screen in 1984. Donald P. Borchers directed and co-wrote the screenplay with King, following his earlier feature Grave Secrets. David Anders and Kandyse McClure play the stranded couple, while the child characters are portrayed by Remington Jennings, Daniel Newman, Preston Bailey and Robert Gerdisch, among a credited cast of thirty-two. The production, made by Fox Television Studios with Planet Productions and Children of the Corn Productions, had a budget of five million dollars.

Audience response has been modest: on IMDb, where the film has drawn a sizable number of votes, and on TMDB, its rating stands at 4.4 out of 10 from 216 votes. The film runs 92 minutes.
