Short description

Set in a small town in Reyes County, Arizona, near the Mexican border, The Hollow Point follows Wallace, a newly appointed sheriff who takes over from Leland, the retired lawman he replaced. When a hired killer sent by a Mexican drug cartel arrives and threatens the community, the two men end up working the case together, with Wallace investigating the failed dealings behind the violence.

The film was directed by Gonzalo López-Gallego, its fifth feature in a run that began with The King of the Hill in 2008 and continued through Apollo 18 and Open Grave. Nils Lyew wrote the screenplay, and the cast is led by Patrick Wilson as Wallace and Ian McShane as Leland, alongside John Leguizamo, Lynn Collins, Jim Belushi and Karli Hall. It was produced by Aaron L. Ginsburg, William Green and Andy Horwitz, with 41 credited crew members, and it blends crime and western elements with action and mystery.

Released in December 2016, the film took in about 1 million dollars worldwide, a modest return for a production of its scale. On TMDB it holds a rating of 5.7 out of 10 from 208 votes, indicating a generally mixed response from viewers.
