The Specialist
Short description
May Munro has spent years planning revenge on the men who killed her parents when she was a child. She seeks out Ray Quick, a former CIA explosives expert who now works on his own, and draws him into her plan to eliminate the members of the crime family responsible. Ray's old partner, Ned Trent, now on the other side of the conflict, becomes his adversary, and the two men are set against each other in Miami while May moves among the targets she intends to destroy.
Sylvester Stallone plays Ray Quick and Sharon Stone plays May Munro, with James Woods as Ned Trent, Rod Steiger as Joe Leon, Eric Roberts as Tomas Leon and Mario Ernesto Sánchez as Charlie. Luis Llosa directed the film, his second feature after Sniper, and Alexandra Seros wrote the screenplay; Jerry Weintraub produced. It followed Llosa's Sniper and preceded Anaconda.
Made for about 45 million USD and released in October 1994, the film took roughly 170 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.6/10 from 68,924 votes, and on TMDB 6/10 from 1,505 votes, while the critics' rating stands at 3.5/10 from 31 reviews, well below the audience scores.
