Triangle
Short description
Triangle is a horror film about Jess, a young single mother who joins a group of friends for a day of sailing. From the start she has a nagging sense that something is wrong, and her unease proves justified when a violent storm capsizes the yacht. Clinging to the overturned hull, the survivors are relieved when a large ocean liner appears. Once aboard, they find the ship apparently deserted and its clocks stopped, yet they are not alone: someone is stalking them one by one. Jess comes to believe she has been on this vessel before, and she unknowingly holds the key to ending the terror.
The film was directed and written by Christopher Smith and released in 2009. It followed his earlier features Creep and Severance, and preceded Black Death, Get Santa, Detour, The Banishing, Consecration and Spider Island in his filmography. Melissa George plays Jess, with Liam Hemsworth, Emma Lung, Rachael Carpani, Michael Dorman and Joshua McIvor among the cast, and Jason Newmark, Julie Baines and Chris Brown producing.
Made for about 12 million USD, the film took roughly 2 million USD at the worldwide box office. On IMDb it holds a rating of 9.2 from 43 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.9 from more than 3,100 votes. A critics' rating of 6.6 from 37 reviews places critical and audience responses in a similar range.
