Short description
A psychiatrist comes to the aid of a compulsive gambler and is led by a smooth-talking grifter into the shadowy but compelling world of stings, scams, and con men.
What's left behind the scenes
- Ricky Jay, who played George, is both an actor and a magician. When director and screenwriter David Mamet asked him to reveal the secrets behind some of the tricks, Jay refused, as some of his colleagues were still using those techniques.
- It was originally intended to be a big-budget project with high-profile actors, but David Mamet later decided to produce the film independently and cast his wife, Lindsay Kraus, as well as friends, such as Joe Mantegna.
