Short description

Alternately hilarious and horrifying, Overnight chronicles one man's misadventures of making a Hollywood movie. It starts out as a rags to riches story as Troy Duffy, a Boston-bred bartender, sells his first screenplay for The Boondock Saints.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Troy Duffy did not acknowledge the documentary by Tony Montana and Mark Brian Smith, stating that they omitted many things. "Their anger directed at me invalidates all their judgment as directors. That is the tragedy of the situation. These guys stabbed in the back those who helped them."
  • The film was shot over four years.
  • According to a podcast interview on RUSiriusRadio.com, director Terry Zwigoff based the character of Ethan Sople in the film "Art School Confidential" on Troy Duffy's behavior as a director.
  • At a convention in Germany, Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus, who starred in Troy Duffy's film "The Boondock Saints," also dismissed Montana and Smith's documentary, calling it "complete rubbish."
