Set at Shibazaki High School just before its school festival, the film follows a newly formed girls' band whose plans fall apart only days before the performance. With their singer gone and a bandmate injured, the remaining members — Kei, Kyoko and Nozomi — scramble to keep the group together. They ask Son, a Korean exchange student who barely speaks Japanese and does not know the songs, to take over on vocals, leaving the three of them a very short time to rehearse a set that includes a well-known 1980s punk song by The Blue Hearts.

Nobuhiro Yamashita directed, working from a screenplay he wrote with Wakako Miyashita and Kosuke Mukai. It is the earliest of the titles listed as his directed works. Bae Doona plays Son, with Aki Maeda, Yuu Kashii and Shiori Sekine as the other band members, and smaller parts filled out by a cast of twenty-three credited performers. Yuji Sadai and Hiroyuki Negishi produced the Japanese production.
