The Roost

The Roost is a horror film about four friends driving to a Halloween wedding who are run off the road in a remote area. Two of them, Trevor and Elliot, go looking for help while Allison and Brian wait behind. The only refuge nearby is a farm that appears abandoned, and their search for assistance stirs an ancient evil that has settled there, turning their night into a struggle to survive.

Ti West wrote and directed the film, his first feature as director. It was produced by James Felix McKenney for Glass Eye Pix, Susie Q Productions and ECR Productions, and runs 80 minutes. The cast includes Karl Jacob, Vanessa Horneff, Sean Reid, Wil Horneff, Larry Fessenden and Tom Noonan, with Noonan appearing as a horror host framing the story.

The film received limited attention, and the ratings reflect that. On IMDb it holds 4.8 out of 10 from roughly 2,400 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.2 out of 10 from a much smaller sample of 37 votes. A critics' rating of 5.6 out of 10 from 21 reviews places it slightly above the audience scores, though neither figure suggests broad enthusiasm. West went on to direct twelve further features, the next being Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever in 2009.
