Shaun of the Dead
Short description
Shaun is a young Londoner stuck in a rut, dividing his time between his girlfriend Liz, his mother, and his favourite pub, where he drinks with his best friend Ed. When Liz grows tired of coming second to his nights out and ends the relationship, Shaun resolves to sort his life out. Before he can, London is overrun by the reanimated dead, and Shaun has to make his way through the city to protect the people he cares about.
Shaun of the Dead was released in 2004 and runs 99 minutes. It is a comedy-horror film directed by Edgar Wright, who wrote the screenplay with Simon Pegg; Nira Park produced. It is the first film Wright directed in the chronological list of his features, ahead of Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, The World's End, Baby Driver, Last Night in Soho and The Running Man. Pegg plays Shaun, with Nick Frost as Ed, Kate Ashfield as Liz, Dylan Moran as David, Lucy Davis as Dianne and Jessica Hynes as Yvonne. The credited cast numbers 63 and the credited crew 76.
Made for about 6 million dollars, the film took roughly 39 million dollars worldwide, a strong return on its budget. On IMDb it holds 7.8/10 from around 637,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 7.5/10 from far fewer, about 9,600 votes. A critics' rating of 7.9/10 from 220 reviews places it slightly above the audience scores, indicating broad approval on both sides.
