Short description

A group of rebellious high school students is tasked with writing a letter to the President of the United States regarding flaws in the education system as a punishment for their behavior. After the letter reaches its destination, the students are invited to Washington to present their ideas. The journey to the capital and their subsequent visit to the White House lead to a series of chaotic events.

The comedy was directed by Kelly Makin, marking the first of two films he directed before Mickey Blue Eyes in 1999. The production was a joint effort between Canada and the United States, involving companies such as New Line Cinema and Alliance Films. The cast includes Jeremy Renner as Dags, Rob Moore as Reggie, and Matt Frewer as Principal Todd Moss, with Tommy Chong appearing as Red.

Financially, the film earned 5 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception was mixed, with a rating of 5.7/10 on IMDb based on 6,700 votes and a 5.5/10 on TMDB from 103 votes. These scores are notably higher than the critics' rating of 2.6/10 from 8 reviews.

What's left behind the scenes

  • This is the first full-length film featuring Jeremy Renner.
  • Travis's 1974 Chevrolet Caprice unexpectedly becomes a 1971 Chevrolet Impala after going off a bridge.
  • A bus with children is traveling south, judging by the fact that they drove through Pennsylvania on their way to Washington, D.C. However, upon arrival, the bus travels north, crossing the Arlington Memorial Bridge near the Lincoln Memorial.
  • After Dags and Virus leave school on the bus, there is a scene of them talking about Lisa. As they talk, a building with the Canadian flag can be seen passing by.
  • The bus driver, played by Tommy Chong, hums a tune and sings a snippet from the song “Earache My Eye.” Chong and Cheech Marin performed this song at the end of the film 'Up in Smoke' (1978).
  • The end credits express gratitude to New Line Cinema for providing footage from the film 'Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Nightmare.' In reality, the film is titled 'Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday' (1993).
