Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel I. Presage Flower

Set in Fuyuki City roughly a decade after a previous Holy Grail War left the city devastated, this animated film follows Shirou Emiya, a young mage and student at Homurahara Academy who survived that earlier conflict and was raised by its victor, Kiritsugu Emiya. Shirou has been living quietly with Sakura Matou, but when he witnesses a battle between superhuman Servants and becomes a Master himself, he is drawn into the Fifth Holy Grail War, a ritual in which seven Masters and their summoned Servants fight over an artifact said to grant any wish. Shirou fights to prevent the Grail from falling into the wrong hands and to protect those close to him, while a mysterious Shadow begins killing people indiscriminately across the city.

The film is the first part of a trilogy adapting the Heaven's Feel route, a darker branch of the Fate/stay night visual novel focused on Shirou, Sakura, Rin Tohsaka and Illya. It is the second film directed by Tomonori Sudo, following The Garden of Sinners: Future Gospel in 2013, and precedes Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel II. Lost Butterfly and III. Spring Song. Akira Hiyama wrote the screenplay, with Hikaru Kondo, Atsuhiro Iwakami and Takashi Takeuchi producing for ufotable. Noriaki Sugiyama voices Shirou, Noriko Shitaya voices Sakura, and Kana Ueda, Ayako Kawasumi, Hiroshi Kamiya and Miki Ito are among the credited cast of 27.

The film took about 17 million dollars worldwide. On TMDB it holds a rating of 7.4 out of 10 from roughly 265 votes.
