Roger Waters: The Wall

Roger Waters: The Wall is a concert film built around the former Pink Floyd singer and songwriter's performances of his old band's 1980 double album, played in full on tour between 2010 and 2013. Alongside the staged show, the film follows Waters travelling to European war memorials and reflecting on how the deaths of his grandfather in the First World War and his father in the Second shaped his life and his opposition to war. Animated passages and personal material are woven into the concert footage, so the result moves between spectacular live spectacle and a more intimate account of the man behind it.

Roger Waters directed with Sean Evans, and Waters wrote and produced with Clare Spencer. Waters appears as himself on vocals, guitar and bass, joined by a band that includes guitarists Dave Kilminster and Snowy White, drummer Graham Broad and keyboard player Jon Carin. The film runs 133 minutes and was released in September 2014.

Audiences have received it warmly. On IMDb it holds 8.5 out of 10 from roughly 5,500 votes, and on TMDB it stands at 8 out of 10 from around 176 votes: a smaller sample that agrees closely with the larger one, suggesting broad approval rather than a niche reaction.
