The Case of the Bloody Iris

Set in a Rome apartment complex, this Italian horror mystery follows a series of killings that strike the building's residents, among them models, dancers and sex workers. Two friends, a model named Jennifer and her roommate Marilyn, move into an apartment left vacant by an earlier victim, and Jennifer soon becomes the killer's next target. Suspicion falls variously on the property owner, a boyfriend, a discarded lover and the neighbours, while the women try to work out who is responsible before the violence reaches them.

Giuliano Carnimeo directed the film, which was released in August 1972 and sits second in the directing credits listed for him, between They Call Me Hallelujah (1971) and Carioca Tigre (1976). Ernesto Gastaldi wrote the screenplay and Luciano Martino produced. Edwige Fenech plays Jennifer, with George Hilton as Andrea Barto, Paola Quattrini as Marilyn Ricci, Giampiero Albertini as Commissioner Enci, Franco Agostini as his assistant and Oreste Lionello as Arthur. Twenty-two cast members are credited, and the film runs 94 minutes.

Audience response has been moderately positive and consistent: on IMDb it holds 6.4/10 from around 3,800 votes, and on TMDB 6.3/10 from roughly a hundred. Those figures point to a genre title with a settled following rather than broad popularity.
