Short description

Overburdened and stuck in a greying marriage, Giovanna takes to caring for a Jewish Holocaust survivor her husband brings home. As she begins to reflect on her life, she turns to the man who lives across from her.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Massimo Girotti (1918-2003) passed away on January 5, 2003, and the film is dedicated to his memory. Before casting him, director Ferzan Özpetek had considered offering the role to Jean Rochefort (1930-2017) and Serge Reggiani (1922-2004).
