The Trust

Two Las Vegas police officers, Jim Stone and David Waters, work in the department's evidence room, where they come across a hidden vault. Struggling to maintain their lifestyle on their salaries, they learn that local drug dealers have set up their own bank behind the cover of the casino trade, and the pair devise a plan to take the safe and its contents for themselves. The scheme initially goes smoothly, but what they find inside changes the situation, drawing them into a spiral of corruption and violence in which their own lives are at stake.

The Trust is a crime thriller directed by Alex Brewer and Benjamin Brewer, their first feature, made several years before their later film Arcadian. Benjamin Brewer wrote the screenplay with Adam Hirsch. Nicolas Cage plays Jim Stone and Elijah Wood plays David Waters, with Sky Ferreira, Jerry Lewis, Kevin Weisman and Steven Williams among the supporting cast. It was produced by Braxton Pope, Molly Hassell and Michael Nilon, and shot in the United Kingdom and the United States on a budget of about 9 million dollars.
