Jesse Stone, the police chief of the small Massachusetts town of Paradise, is called to a local lake where the body of a teenage girl has been found floating in the water. What first appears to be an accident becomes a murder investigation as Stone learns that the girl, once a strong student, had drifted into drugs and self-destructive behavior. His inquiries lead him toward a successful writer who makes a living from troubled young people, and also bring him into contact with the Boston mob.
The film is a crime drama directed by Robert Harmon, the seventh feature in his directing career and the third in the Jesse Stone series of television films.
