Pentathlon

Pentathlon follows Eric Brogar, an East German athlete who wins Olympic gold in the modern pentathlon and uses the moment to defect to the United States. His coach, Heinrich Müller, is enraged by the betrayal, and the consequences fall on the people Eric leaves behind. Eric settles in Los Angeles, where he drifts before a restaurant owner learns about his sporting past and pushes him to train for competition again. Meanwhile, Müller resurfaces in America with a plan that turns the two men's history into a direct confrontation.

The film is an American action thriller directed by Bruce Malmuth, his third feature after Nighthawks in 1981 and Hard to Kill in 1990. Gary T. McDonald, William Stadiem and Gary DeVore wrote the screenplay, and Martin E. Caan produced. Dolph Lundgren plays Eric, with David Soul as Müller, Renée Coleman as Julia Davis and Roger E. Mosley as John Creese. Made on a budget of about four million dollars and released in 1994, it runs 101 minutes.
