Blood Creek

Blood Creek follows two brothers, Victor and Evan Marshall. Victor disappears near a rural campsite and turns up two years later, scarred and desperate, asking Evan for help. He says he was held and tortured by a family, and the brothers set out armed to take revenge on those responsible. At the remote farm they find that the family is not the worst thing waiting for them: something deadly in the cellar traces back to Nazi Germany, where an occult research project was set up in the 1930s.

Joel Schumacher directed the film, the nineteenth of the twenty-one features listed in his filmography, between The Number 23 and Twelve. David Kajganich wrote the screenplay, and Paul Brooks, Tom Lassally and Robyn Meisinger produced it for Gold Circle Films. Dominic Purcell plays Victor, Henry Cavill plays Evan, and Michael Fassbender plays Richard Wirth, the scholar at the centre of the experiment. Emma Booth, Rainer Winkelvoss and Shea Whigham also appear. It runs 90 minutes and mixes horror with thriller.

Released in October 2009, the film received a muted response from audiences: on TMDB it holds a rating of 5.3 out of 10 from 311 votes.
