Cahill: United States Marshal

J.D. Cahill is a U.S. Marshal whose reputation alone is enough to make outlaws think twice. His dedication to the job, however, has left little room for his two sons, Danny and Billy Joe, who are growing up without their mother. Eager to get their father's attention and prove themselves, the boys fall in with a group of criminals led by Abe Fraser. What begins as a scheme to rob a bank goes badly wrong, and the brothers find themselves in far deeper trouble than they anticipated, unable to escape the consequences without help.

The film stars John Wayne as Cahill, with George Kennedy as Fraser, Gary Grimes and Clay O'Brien as the sons, Neville Brand as the tracker Lightfoot, and Marie Windsor as Mrs. Hetty Green. Andrew V. McLaglen directed from a screenplay by Harry Julian Fink and Rita M. Fink, with Michael Wayne producing for Warner Bros. Pictures and Batjac Productions. It runs 103 minutes and was released in July 1973, the tenth of the sixteen films McLaglen directed in chronological order, following Fools' Parade and preceding Mitchell.
