Keoma

Keoma is a half-Mexican gunfighter who comes back to his border hometown after serving in the Civil War, only to find it changed for the worse. The town is in the grip of Caldwell, a former Confederate raider, and his gang of killers, while disease spreads among the frightened inhabitants. Adding to the tension, Keoma's three half-brothers have thrown in their lot with Caldwell and want nothing to do with him. Keoma finds few allies beyond his father and an old friend, and he sets out to break Caldwell's hold on the town and settle accounts with his brothers. His return is complicated by a pregnant woman he has taken under his protection.

Enzo G. Castellari directed and co-wrote the screenplay with George Eastman and Mino Roli, with Manolo Bolognini producing. Released in November 1976, it followed Castellari's Johnny Hamlet and Cry, Onion!, and came before The Inglorious Bastards, The House by the Edge of the Lake, 1990: The Bronx Warriors and Hammerhead. Franco Nero plays Keoma, with William Berger, Olga Karlatos, Orso Maria Guerrini, Gabriella Giacobbe and Antonio Marsina in the main cast.
