House of Dracula is a horror film from Universal Pictures in which Count Dracula and the werewolf Lawrence Talbot both seek out Dr. Franz Edelmann, a scientist who runs a clinic for patients considered incurable. Dracula claims he wants to be freed from his vampirism, while Talbot is genuinely desperate for a cure. The doctor's research into rare conditions gives him a basis for treating both of them, but Dracula's motives are not what they appear, and the treatments carry consequences for Edelmann himself.
Erle C. Kenton directed the film, which followed his earlier Universal horror work The Ghost of Frankenstein and came thirteen years after Island of Lost Souls. Edward T. Lowe Jr. wrote the screenplay and Paul Malvern produced. John Carradine plays Dracula, Onslow Stevens plays Dr. Edelmann, and Lon Chaney Jr. plays Lawrence Talbot, with Martha O'Driscoll, Jane Adams and Lionel Atwill in supporting roles.
The film runs sixty-four minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.7 from around 6,800 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.5 from roughly 150 votes. A small sample of critics gave it 6 out of 10, slightly above the audience scores.
