A Christmas Horror Story is a Canadian anthology film set in the town of Bailey Downs, where Christmas Eve becomes anything but festive. Its interconnected tales follow teenagers who encounter a malevolent presence in the catacombs beneath their school, a family whose outing to cut down a Christmas tree goes badly wrong, and a household visited by the demonic Krampus. Meanwhile, Santa Claus faces an unexpected threat of his own while preparing for his rounds. The film is a horror-fantasy built around the idea that holiday traditions can turn dark.
The film was released in 2015 and runs 99 minutes. It was directed by Brett Sullivan, Grant Harvey and Steven Hoban, with a screenplay by Doug Taylor, Pascal Trottier and James Kee, and it was produced by Copperheart Entertainment with Steven Hoban and Mark Smith producing. Sullivan's earlier directing credit was Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed, and Harvey's was Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning, so this film continues the association between its makers and that werewolf series. The cast includes William Shatner as Dangerous Dan, George Buza as Santa, Rob Archer as Krampus, Zoé De Grand Maison as Molly, Alex Ozerov-Meyer as Ben and Shannon Kook as Dylan, among 29 credited cast members and 65 credited crew.
Reception was modest. On IMDb it holds 5.8 from around 14,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.8 from 379 votes, while the critics' rating of 7 from 24 reviews is noticeably higher than those audience scores.
