The Bad Batch

The Bad Batch is set in a stretch of Texas desert that has been fenced off and cut loose from the United States, a place where people the country no longer wants are dropped and left to survive. Arlen is one of them. Soon after she arrives, she is taken by a community of cannibals who keep their captives alive and eat them piece by piece. She escapes, and her path crosses that of Miami Man, a member of that same community, whose young daughter has gone missing. Their encounters pull Arlen between two very different settlements in the wasteland, and around them the film follows her attempts to stay alive, decide who to trust, and reunite a child with her father.

Ana Lily Amirpour wrote and directed the film, her second feature after A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night and before Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon. Suki Waterhouse plays Arlen, with Jason Momoa as Miami Man, Yolonda Ross as Maria, Keanu Reeves as The Dream, Giovanni Ribisi as The Screamer and Jim Carrey as The Hermit among a credited cast of 26. It was produced by Megan Ellison, Sina Sayyah and Danny Gabai for Annapurna Pictures, Vice Studios and Human Stew Factory on a budget of about 6 million dollars.

On IMDb the film holds 5.2 out of 10 from roughly 38,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.3 out of 10 from about 1,200 votes. A critics' rating of 5.8 out of 10 from 100 reviews places it slightly above those audience scores.
