Venus Wars

Venus Wars is set on a Venus made habitable after an icy asteroid struck the planet, where Earth's colonists have built two rival nations, Ishtar and Aphrodia, over four generations. The uneasy peace between them collapses when Ishtar attacks Aphrodia's capital. Caught in the invasion is Hiro, a reckless young rider who competes in a motorcycle sport resembling roller derby, and Susan, a reporter newly arrived from Earth to cover the conflict. Although Hiro has no taste for war, he and his teammates are drawn into the resistance, and their skill on fast, agile bikes becomes Aphrodia's answer to Ishtar's heavy tanks and aircraft.

The film was directed by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, who wrote the screenplay with Yuichi Sasamoto. It is his fourth directed feature, arriving between Arion and the later Gundam: The Origin and Cucuruz Doan's Island films. The Japanese voice cast includes Katsuhide Uekusa as Hiro, Eriko Hara as Susan, Yuko Mizutani as Maggie, Yuko Sasaki as Miranda, Hiroshi Kawaguchi as Tao and Kaneto Shiozawa as Donner. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.7 out of 10 from 70 votes.
