Meadowland

Meadowland follows Sarah and Phil, a New York couple whose young son disappears during a stop at a gas station. A year later, the two have drifted apart rather than toward each other. Phil, a police officer, keeps returning to the place where his son vanished and tries to work through his grief in group therapy, while Sarah, a high school teacher, is convinced the boy is still alive somewhere and begins drifting into increasingly reckless and dangerous situations. Their different ways of coping pull them further apart as each searches for a way to keep going.

The film is a drama directed by Reed Morano in her feature debut, from a screenplay by Chris Rossi, with Olivia Wilde and Luke Wilson in the lead roles. Wilde also served as a producer alongside Margot Hand and Matt Tauber. The supporting cast includes Elisabeth Moss, Kevin Corrigan, Juno Temple and John Leguizamo.

Meadowland was released in October 2015 and runs 105 minutes. It sits at 5.8 out of 10 on IMDb from roughly 4,300 votes and the same average on TMDB, though from a much smaller pool of about 120 users. A critics' rating of 6.9 from 25 reviews places professional response noticeably above the audience consensus. The film was the first of three features Morano has directed, followed by I Think We're Alone Now in 2018 and The Rhythm Section in 2020.
