Two very different brothers, Jo and Frank, drift back into each other's lives when Frank offers to help out at the bar Jo owns in Ghent. Working side by side, they turn the shabby Café Belgica into the most popular nightspot in the country, a crowded home for rock music, heavy drinking and nonstop partying. The place thrives, but running a business together proves harder than either expected, and the closeness they rediscover gradually gives way to distrust and rivalry, with their private lives and their relationship suffering as the club's success grows.
Felix van Groeningen directed and co-wrote the film with Arne Sierens. It followed his 2012 feature The Broken Circle Breakdown and was his third film, ahead of Beautiful Boy in 2018, The Eight Mountains in 2022 and Let Love In in 2027. Stef Aerts plays Jo and Tom Vermeir plays Frank, with Dominique Van Malder, Ben Benaouisse, Boris Van Severen and Sara de Bosschere among a credited cast of 33. The Belgian-French production, from Topkapi Films, Menuet and Pyramide Productions, runs 127 minutes.
Audience responses were moderate: on IMDb the film holds 6.7/10 from around 5,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6/10 from 137 votes. A critics' rating of 6.3/10 from 14 reviews places it in similar territory to those viewer scores rather than above them.
