Undrafted

Undrafted follows a college baseball player whose hopes of being picked in the Major League draft are dashed when no team selects him. As he struggles with the collapse of a lifelong ambition, a group of teammates on the fringes of the roster give him a reason to keep playing, and an intramural game takes on unexpected importance for him.

The film is the writing and directing debut of Joseph Mazzello, who also appears in the cast and produced it. Mazzello based the story on the experience of his brother, a college baseball standout who went undrafted. Aaron Tveit plays John Mazello, known as Maz. Tyler Hoechlin appears as Dellamonica, alongside Jay Hayden, Duke Davis Roberts, Mazzello as Pat Murray and Chace Crawford as Arthur Barone.

Released in July 2016, the film runs 100 minutes and mixes comedy with drama and family themes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.3 from around 1,600 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7 from a much smaller pool of about 35 votes. The wider IMDb sample points to a generally moderate response, and the higher TMDB figure rests on too few votes to carry much weight.
