Bleed for This
Short description
Bleed for This tells the story of Vinny Pazienza, a boxer from Rhode Island known as the Pazmanian Devil, whose career is derailed by a serious car crash in the early 1990s. The accident leaves him with a broken neck. Doctors warn he may not walk again, and one option on the table is surgery that would fuse his spine. Pazienza rejects that path and sets out to fight again, working with trainer Kevin Rooney. The film follows his effort to return to the ring against medical advice.
Ben Younger wrote and directed the drama, which sits between Prime and The Vince Staples Show in his filmography. Miles Teller plays Pazienza, with Aaron Eckhart as Rooney. Katey Sagal and Ciarán Hinds appear as his parents, Ted Levine plays Lou Duva, and Christine Evangelista plays Ashley. The production had a budget of 6 million dollars and took in roughly the same amount worldwide. On IMDb the film holds 6.8 from about 33,000 votes, and on TMDB it also stands at 6.8, from a much smaller base of 851 votes. A critics' rating of 6.2 from 139 reviews places it somewhat below the audience scores.

- According to director Ben Younger, filming took 24 days, and the film's budget was $6 million.
- Professional boxer Edwin Rodriguez, who played Roberto Duran, knocked out the fight choreographer during the filming of the final fight. It was the last day of filming, so the scene turned out much shorter than planned.
- Miles Teller himself nearly died in a car accident once, and a year later, his friend died in a traffic accident. Since then, the actor has worn a green bracelet in memory of his friend with the inscription "Buckle up for Bo." The bracelet can be seen in all films featuring Teller, unless it contradicts the on-screen image.
- Miles Teller trained in boxing with coach Darrell Foster, who worked with fighters such as Sugar Ray Leonard (one of the strongest boxers of the 1980s). Foster also prepared Will Smith for his role in Michael Mann's sports drama "Ali" (2001).
- Ben Younger's first film in 11 years. His previous work was the romantic comedy "My Best Lover" (2005) starring Uma Thurman and Meryl Streep.
