Romy travels to the United States with her husband, Richard. After a series of intense conflicts, she leaves her marriage behind to travel alone through California and Nevada. While venturing toward Las Vegas, she meets a reserved ranger named Diego. Their brief encounter leads Romy to seek out a remote desert location, prompting her to confront long-ignored desires and seek a new sense of freedom.

The drama was directed by Fabienne Berthaud, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Pascal Arnold. The film features Diane Kruger in the lead role as Romy, appearing alongside Norman Reedus, Gilles Lellouche, Lena Dunham, Q'orianka Kilcher, and Lou Diamond Phillips. A joint production between Germany and France, the movie was produced by Pandora Film, Le Bureau, and Vamonos Films.
