Greenfingers

Greenfingers follows Colin Briggs, a prisoner transferred to an experimental open prison in Britain where inmates move around freely and learn trades before their release. When a fellow inmate gives him a packet of violet seeds, Colin discovers an unexpected talent for growing flowers. The prison's new garden draws the attention of Georgina Woodhouse, a well-known horticulture expert, who encourages Colin and several other prisoners to enter a major national garden competition. Along the way, Colin meets Georgina's daughter, and a romance develops between them.

The film was written and directed by Joel Hershman, produced by Trudie Styler, Travis Swords and Daniel J. Victor, and released in July 2001. It runs 91 minutes and was made in the United Kingdom and the United States. Clive Owen stars as Colin, with Helen Mirren as Georgina, David Kelly as Fergus Wilks, Warren Clarke as Governor Gerald Hodge, Danny Dyer as Tony and Adam Fogerty as Raw, among a credited cast of 30.

Greenfingers took in about 1 million dollars worldwide, a modest return. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.3 out of 10 from 87 votes, while film critics gave it 5.2 out of 10 across 69 reviews, so audiences have rated it somewhat more generously than critics.
