Sparrows

Sparrows is a drama about Ari, a sixteen-year-old boy living in Reykjavik who is sent to the remote Westfjords to live with his father, Gunnar, after his mother takes a job abroad. Ari must navigate a strained relationship with his father, who has been affected by a financial crisis, while adjusting to a childhood home where his old friends have changed. Amidst these challenges in a declining fishing village, the teenager attempts to find his own path and transition into adulthood.

The film was written and directed by Rúnar Rúnarsson, who also served as a producer. This project is the second film in his career, following Oiko Logos and preceding When the Light Breaks. The cast features Atli Óskar Fjalarsson in the lead role, alongside Ingvar E. Sigurðsson, Rakel Björk Björnsdóttir, Rade Šerbedžija, Nanna Kristín Magnúsdóttir, and Kristbjörg Kjeld.

The movie holds a 6.8 rating on IMDb based on 1,800 votes and a 6.4 rating on TMDB from 40 votes. Film critics gave the production a rating of 7/10 based on 6 reviews, which is slightly higher than the audience scores on TMDB and similar to the general reception on IMDb.
