Renegades

During a conflict in the Balkans, a squad of US Navy SEALs discovers that a massive hoard of gold, hidden by Nazis during World War II, lies at the bottom of a local lake. The soldiers decide to launch an unauthorized operation to recover the treasure, facing a strict time limit to complete the task before they are stopped by enemy forces.

The action thriller was directed by Steven Quale, marking his fourth feature film following Aliens of the Deep, Final Destination 5, and Into the Storm. It precedes his 2026 film Black Box. The screenplay was written by Luc Besson and Richard Wenk. The cast features J.K. Simmons, Sullivan Stapleton, Charlie Bewley, Sylvia Hoeks, Joshua Henry, and Diarmaid Murtagh.

Produced by Studio Babelsberg, Canal+, EuropaCorp, and Belga Productions, the film had a budget of 66 million USD but earned only 3 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception was mixed, with a rating of 5.5/10 on IMDb from 13,000 votes and 5.6/10 on TMDB from 378 votes. Film critics gave the movie a lower rating of 3.9/10 based on 20 reviews.
