Short description
Christy Beam is the mother of three young daughters and leads an ordinary family life with her husband Kevin until she learns that her ten-year-old daughter Anna suffers from a rare digestive disorder that has no cure. Christy becomes a determined advocate for her daughter, seeking out specialists and any treatment that might bring relief, while the family struggles with the limits of what medicine can offer. Then Anna falls from a great height in an accident, and what follows leaves doctors puzzled and changes the family's life.
The film is directed by Patricia Riggen, its fifth feature after Under the Same Moon, Lemonade Mouth, Girl in Progress and The 33. Randy Brown wrote the screenplay, and Joe Roth, T.D. Jakes and DeVon Franklin produced. Jennifer Garner plays Christy, with Kylie Rogers as Anna, Martin Henderson as Kevin, Brighton Sharbino and Courtney Fansler as the older and younger sisters, and John Carroll Lynch as Pastor Scott.
Made for a budget of 13 million US dollars, the film took in about 74 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 7.1/10 from roughly 32,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.5/10 from around 1,300 votes. A film critics' rating of 5.1/10 from 91 reviews is considerably lower than either audience figure.
