Short description
When an attack on the Kingsman headquarters takes place and a new villain rises, Eggsy and Merlin are forced to work together with the American agency known as the Statesman to save the world.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Matthew Vaughn’s first sequel as a director.
  • The film's cast includes five "Academy Award winners" – Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Jeff Bridges, Colin Firth, and Elton John.
  • At one point, Matthew Vaughn jokingly stated that he would drag Colin Firth back into the 'Kingsman' franchise, even if only for the role of a zombie Harry Hart or his evil twin.
  • Before the release of 'Kingsman: The Secret Service,' Mark Millar and Matthew Vaughn stated that a sequel would be possible if the first film performed well at the box office. Vaughn expressed interest in returning as the film's director. Strong was also interested in returning to the role of Merlin.
  • On April 14, 2016, Tatum posted a teaser poster on his Twitter account, similar to the one hinting at Colin Firth's return, with aviator glasses and the caption: 'My mom always told me you Brits taught us Southerners good manners.'
  • Director Matthew Vaughn admitted that he initially doubted the need for a sequel: 'I didn't know if I wanted to make this movie. I was worried about the villain, and the success of spy films largely depends on the villain. But one day I woke up and realized what story and what villain I needed.'
  • Jeff Bridges' character does not wear a beard or mustache. The actor appears clean-shaven on screen for the first time since the release of George LaV's 2009 drama 'Year of the Dog.'
  • Bruce Greenwood plays the President of the United States for the third time in this film. He previously played the president in the films: "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" (2007), and "Thirteen Days" (2000).
  • Initially, the role of Tequila (played by Channing Tatum) was intended to be more significant, but Tatum was busy filming Steven Soderbergh's crime comedy "Logan Lucky" (2017), and some scenes were rewritten to feature a character named Whiskey (played by Pedro Pascal). The ability to use a lasso was also attributed to this character, although previously it was a skill of Tequila's.
  • The initial version of the film was 3 hours and 40 minutes long. It contained so much material that 20th Century Fox executives asked the film's director, screenwriter, and producer, Matthew Vaughn, if he would like to split it into two feature films. Vaughn declined and reduced the film to 2 hours and 21 minutes of screen time.
  • In the wedding scene at the end of the film, Colin Firth's character claims that one of the founders of the secret service once said: "This is not the end, nor even the beginning of the end, but perhaps the end of the beginning." In fact, this is a quote from Winston Churchill's book "The Second World War", implying that Churchill himself was involved in the creation of the secret service.
  • Taron Egerton (who played Eggsy) firmly refused to participate in the explicit scene in Clara's tent, where his character has to insert a miniature tracking device inside the girlfriend of the main antagonist. The male hand shown in this scene belongs to the husband of actress Poppy Delevingne.
  • During the dance scene under the influence of the virus, Channing Tatum was able to improvise all of his character's movements thanks to his dancing skills.
  • At one point, Matthew Vaughn jokingly stated that he would drag Colin Firth back into the “Kingsman” franchise, even if it was for the role of a zombie Harry Hart or his evil double.
  • Director Matthew Vaughn admitted that he initially doubted the need for a sequel: “I didn’t know if I wanted to make this film. I was worried about the villain, as the success of spy films largely depends on the villain. But one day I woke up and realized what story and what villain I needed.”
