Short description
Kingsman: The Golden Circle follows the British secret agent Eggsy and his colleague Merlin after an attack destroys their organisation's headquarters. With the world under threat from a new and ruthless enemy, the two discover that a parallel American spy agency, Statesman, was founded at the same time as their own. The two elite services must join forces against a common adversary, led by the villainous Poppy.
Matthew Vaughn directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Jane Goldman, returning to the series after Kingsman: The Secret Service in 2015; it is the sixth of the eight features he has directed, between that film and The King's Man. Taron Egerton reprises the lead role, with Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Hanna Alström and Halle Berry among the cast. The production cost about 104 million US dollars and earned roughly 411 million worldwide, a strong return. On IMDb it holds 6.7/10 from around 400,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.9/10 from more than 11,000 votes. A film critics' rating of 5.4/10 from 305 reviews sits noticeably below both audience scores, indicating that viewers responded more warmly than reviewers did.
