Once Upon a Time in Venice

Steve Ford is a private detective working in Los Angeles whose personal and professional lives collide when his dog Buddy is taken by a gang. To get the animal back, Steve agrees to do the gang's bidding, which draws him into a plan to recover stolen drugs for their unpredictable leader, Spyder. He leans on his best friend Dave, his assistant John and his sister-in-law Katey, while two vengeful Samoan brothers, a loan shark and his enforcers, and other shady figures complicate matters. The film mixes action, comedy, mystery and thriller elements around the detective's efforts to retrieve his pet.

Mark Cullen and Robb Cullen directed and wrote the film, and also produced it with Nicolas Chartier. Bruce Willis plays Steve, with Jason Momoa as Spyder, John Goodman as Dave Phillips, Thomas Middleditch as John, Famke Janssen as Katey Ford and Elisabeth Röhm as Anne Phillips. It was released in June 2017 and runs 94 minutes.

The film drew a critics' rating of 4.1 out of 10 from 38 reviews, alongside 5.3 out of 10 on IMDb from around 22,000 votes and 5.2 out of 10 on TMDB from roughly 724 votes. Those figures place the critical and audience responses close together, with the small review sample and modest vote totals on TMDB contrasting with the larger IMDb tally.
