The Confirmation

Anthony is a young boy sent to spend a weekend with his father Walt, a carpenter he has barely seen since Walt and Anthony's mother divorced. The visit starts badly: Walt's truck breaks down, his landlord locks him out, and his toolbox is stolen. Because that toolbox is what lets him take the work he depends on, father and son set out together to track down whoever took it. The search carries them through a string of mishaps, and along the way the two begin to rebuild a relationship that had been allowed to lapse.

Bob Nelson directed and wrote the screenplay, and produced the film with Todd Hoffman. It was released in 2016 and runs 101 minutes. Clive Owen plays Walt, with Jaeden Martell as Anthony, Maria Bello as the boy's mother, Matthew Modine as her partner, and Tim Blake Nelson and Patton Oswalt among a credited cast of 28. Set in Canada and made by Lighthouse Pictures, Bungalow Media + Entertainment and Sapphire Fire Limited, the film mixes comedy with drama.

The Confirmation drew a critics' rating of 6.7/10 from 32 reviews, modestly above the 6.4/10 it holds on IMDb from around 7,500 votes and the same 6.4/10 on TMDB from roughly 200 votes.
