Grease Live

Grease Live is a musical television production based on the stage musical and the 1978 film Grease. After a summer romance, high school students Danny Zuko and Sandy Young part ways, only to discover that Sandy has enrolled at Rydell High, the same school Danny attends. There, Sandy encounters the cynical Rizzo and her circle of friends, the Pink Ladies, while Danny must balance his feelings for her against the expectations of his own group of friends.

The project was directed by Alex Rudzinski and Thomas Kail, both of whom worked on it around the same point in their careers; for Kail it precedes his later work on Hamilton and Moana. The cast includes Julianne Hough as Sandy, Aaron Tveit as Danny, Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo, Keke Palmer, Carly Rae Jepsen and Mario López, among a credited cast of 64. The screenplay is by Bronte Woodard, and the production was handled by Marc Platt Productions and Paramount Television Studios.

Released in January 2016, the film runs 130 minutes and sits in the music and television film genres. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7.2 from around 10,000 votes, while on TMDB it has a rating of 7.1 from roughly 320 votes, indicating a generally favorable response from viewers across both platforms.
