Storm Warning follows Marsha Mitchell, a New York fashion model who stops for less than a day in the southern town of Rock Point to see her sister Lucy, now married to a man Marsha has never met. Out walking at night, Marsha secretly witnesses the killing of an investigative journalist by members of the Ku Klux Klan, and she comes to suspect that her brother-in-law was among those responsible. District attorney Burt Rainey struggles to build a case against the Klan, while the web of family ties and local connections complicates what Marsha should do with what she saw.
Stuart Heisler directed the film for Warner Bros., working from a screenplay by Daniel Fuchs and Richard Brooks. It came fifth in the run of features Heisler had made since The Glass Key in 1942, after Blue Skies, Tokyo Joe and Chain Lightning. Ginger Rogers plays Marsha, with Ronald Reagan as Rainey, Doris Day as Lucy and Steve Cochran as Hank Rice, among a credited cast of ninety-three. Jerry Wald produced the ninety-three-minute drama.
Released in February 1951, the film draws a 7.2 rating on IMDb from roughly 3,100 votes, while on TMDB it holds 6.6 from a much smaller base of 46.
