Date Night

Phil and Claire Foster are a married couple in a New Jersey suburb whose weekly dinner out has turned into a routine. When friends close to them separate, the Fosters decide to try something different and head into Manhattan for a night at a fashionable restaurant, only to find they have no reservation. They take the table of an absent couple, the Tripplehorns, and the impersonation quickly draws the wrong kind of attention. People who have been looking for the Tripplehorns take the Fosters for their targets, and the couple spends the rest of the night on the run, pursued by corrupt police officers and criminals across the city.

Shawn Levy directed the film, his seventh of seventeen features in chronological order, following Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and preceding Real Steel. Josh Klausner wrote the screenplay, and Levy produced. Steve Carell and Tina Fey play Phil and Claire, with Mark Wahlberg, Taraji P. Henson, Jimmi Simpson and Common among the supporting cast; 73 cast members and 107 crew members are credited.

Made for a budget of 55 million dollars, the film took in about 152 million dollars worldwide, a solid return. On IMDb it holds 6.3 out of 10 from roughly 179,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.1 out of 10 from about 3,100 votes, while a critics' score of 6.1 out of 10 from 226 reviews places it close to the audience verdict.
