This Beautiful Fantastic

This Beautiful Fantastic is a British comedy-drama about Bella Brown, a young Londoner who works in a library and dreams of writing and illustrating a children's book. When her landlord threatens her with eviction unless she clears up the overgrown garden behind her home, she is forced into contact with Alfie Stevenson, the wealthy widower next door, whose complaints about the garden started the trouble. Alfie is bad-tempered and distant, but he also turns out to be a skilled horticulturist, and he becomes an unlikely teacher to Bella, who has no feeling for plants and prefers the world of her imagination. Their uneasy relationship, and her friendships with the shy inventor Billy Tranter and her domineering boss Mrs Bramble, shape the story.

Simon Aboud wrote and directed the film, which was produced by Kami Naghdi, Christine Alderson and Andrea Iervolino. Jessica Brown Findlay plays Bella, with Tom Wilkinson as Alfie, Andrew Scott as Vernon, Jeremy Irvine as Billy and Anna Chancellor as Mrs Bramble. Released in 2016, the film runs 100 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7.1/10 from around 350 votes, while reviews collected from critics give it 6.1/10 from 24 reviews. The gap suggests audiences responded to it more warmly than critics did.
