Short description

At Fallbrook Middle School, biology teacher Matt Warner struggles to live up to the legacy of his late father, Norman, who won the student-voted Teacher of the Year award for many years. Matt's goal to secure the title is threatened by the arrival of Michael D'Angelo, a charismatic history teacher and former student of the school. While the students and faculty are quickly won over by the newcomer's unconventional methods and personality, Matt becomes consumed by jealousy. He attempts to discredit his colleague in a private campaign, but the conflict shifts when he discovers a secret about the other man's health.

In the following shot, we see the full name 'Castro' again, but with the letters 'ro' clearly written back on at the end.
  • The film was shot in Vancouver, Canada, and its surrounding areas in the fall of 2002.
  • The film's director, William Dear, makes a cameo as an astronaut in a spacesuit, who is treated rudely by Matt Warner during his lesson.
