Forsaken

John Henry Clayton returns to his hometown of Fowler, Wyoming, in 1872, hoping to rebuild his relationship with his father, Reverend Clayton. Years earlier he left to become a gunfighter, and his father disapproved of the violent life he chose. Now John Henry has put away his gun and wants to live quietly, and he becomes close to Mary-Alice Watson, a woman from his past who is now married. His plans are complicated by a local gang led by James McCurdy, which is pressuring farmers who refuse to sell their land as a railroad approaches. John Henry is the only person capable of standing up to them, but his father opposes any return to violence.

Forsaken is a Western directed by Jon Cassar, working from a screenplay by Brad Mirman. It stars Kiefer Sutherland as John Henry Clayton and Donald Sutherland as his father, with Demi Moore, Brian Cox, Siobhan Williams and Michael Wincott in supporting roles. The film followed Cassar's earlier work on the television film 24: Redemption and preceded When the Bough Breaks in his directing credits.

It was made for a budget of about 11 million US dollars and was released in 2015. Audiences gave it moderate marks: on IMDb it holds 6.4 out of 10 from roughly 15,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.2 out of 10 from 391 votes. A film critics' rating of 5.5 out of 10 from 42 reviews places it somewhat below those audience scores.
