Girl, Interrupted

In the late 1960s, seventeen-year-old Susanna Kaysen is admitted to a psychiatric hospital in New England after being diagnosed with a personality disorder. While confined to the institution, she struggles to distinguish between sanity and mental illness. Susanna forms complex bonds with other patients, including a sociopath named Lisa, as she navigates the challenges of institutional life and eventually decides whether to remain in that environment or face the difficulties of the outside world.
