Death Line

Death Line is a British horror film set in the tunnels of the London Underground, around the stops at Holborn and Russell Square. People have been vanishing in the area, and when a government official becomes the latest to disappear, Scotland Yard begins to treat the cases seriously. Inspector Calhoun takes charge of the investigation, while a young couple who stumble onto a body in a station are drawn into the same grim business. The trail points toward a long-abandoned section of the underground, connected to a collapse during the construction of the railway decades earlier, and toward something that has survived down there.

Gary Sherman directed the film, working from a screenplay by Ceri Jones, with Paul Maslansky producing. It was Sherman's first feature, and he went on to direct Dead & Buried and Poltergeist III. Donald Pleasence plays Inspector Calhoun, with Norman Rossington as Detective Sergeant Rogers, David Ladd and Sharon Gurney as the couple Alex and Patricia, and Hugh Armstrong and June Turner as the figures known in the credits only as the Man and the Woman. Twenty performers are credited.

The film runs 87 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.9 from around 6,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.8 from roughly 135 votes, a modest audience response that is likely to reflect the film's cult standing rather than wider popularity. A critics' rating of 7.1 from 15 reviews places it noticeably higher than either audience score, suggesting that reviewers have generally responded to it more warmly than general viewers.
