Dr. Cyclops follows a group of scientists and explorers who travel to a remote part of the Peruvian jungle to find a colleague who has been conducting unusual research there. They locate Dr. Alexander Thorkel, a physicist who has discovered a source of radium and has been using it to shrink living creatures. When the visitors question his methods, he turns his experiments on them, reducing them to a fraction of their normal size. Stranded and tiny, the group must survive both the doctor and the dangers of the surrounding jungle, where ordinary plants and animals become overwhelming threats.
Ernest B. Schoedsack directed the film, his fifth feature in a run that began with The Most Dangerous Game and continued through King Kong, The Son of Kong and, later, Mighty Joe Young. The screenplay is by Tom Kilpatrick and Malcolm Stuart Boylan, and the cast is led by Albert Dekker as Thorkel, alongside Thomas Coley, Janice Logan, Charles Halton, Victor Kilian and Frank Yaconelli. Produced by Paramount, the film runs just over an hour.
Opinions on the film are modest but consistent. On IMDb it holds a 6.4 rating from around 3,200 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.2 from a much smaller sample. Critics, whose rating stands at 6.3 from 14 reviews, judged it in much the same terms as general viewers.
