Sophie Picard is a magistrate who is hearing a fraud case against a woman named Juliette Larrain. During the proceedings she learns that Juliette is the biological mother of the child Sophie adopted, and rather than stepping aside from the case, she keeps it and takes a closer interest in the defendant. Her husband Olivier disapproves and begins meeting Juliette without telling her who he really is.
Yves Angelo directed the film, released in France in 2015, from a screenplay he wrote with Gilles Legrand and François Dupeyron. Legrand and Frédéric Brillion produced it for Epithète Films. Sylvie Testud plays Sophie, with Mathilde Bisson as Juliette, Grégory Gadebois as Olivier, Zacharie Chasseriaud as Léo, John Arnold as Pierre and Pascal Ternisien as the accused. It runs 103 minutes.
On TMDB the film holds a rating of 5.8 out of 10 from 18 votes, a small sample that points to limited attention rather than a settled reception. Angelo had already made several features before this one, and here he works with a lead actress known for prominent roles in French cinema, supported by a cast of stage and screen regulars. The story stays with the consequences of Sophie's decision for the three adults involved.
