A wealthy businessman imports a giant python from Asia for a private hunt, but the snake escapes during transport in Philadelphia and begins killing people. With the body count rising, the FBI turns to a genetically engineered boa constrictor of similar size, equipped with tracking and camera gear, and sets it loose to hunt the python down. A snake specialist works alongside an FBI agent on the plan, while the businessman and his team pursue the creature themselves, and a group of hunters also enters the chase hoping to claim it as a trophy.
David Flores directed the film, which came before his later Lake Placid 2, from a screenplay by Chase Parker. Jeffery Beach and Phillip J. Roth produced. The cast includes David Hewlett as Dr. Emmett, Jaime Bergman as Monica, Kirk B.R. Woller as Agent Sharpe, Adamo Palladino as Broddick, Angel Boris Reed as Eve and Marianne Stanicheva as Agent Koznetova, among 26 credited performers. Made for about 1 million dollars, it is a low-budget creature feature.
Audience response has been poor: on IMDb it holds a rating of 2.9 out of 10 from roughly 4,400 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 4.4 out of 10 from around 134 votes. It runs 92 minutes and was released in November 2004.
